Puertito de Lobos

Fishing shacks on the islet of Lobos

What was once a luxurious refuge for seals has become one of the most attractive places to visit in Fuerteventura. To get to the islet of Lobos, in the north of Fuerteventura, you simply need to take a 20-minute boat ride across from Corralejo. From the jetty, a 10-minute walk will take you to the Puertito de Lobos, a small collection of white fishing shacks with blue doors, and the only populated part of this virgin island.

Natural pools and a restaurant beside the sea

Less than ten houses make up the centre of the only human settlement on the islet, venture further afield and the traces of humanity are almost non-existent on this wild, unspoilt islet. Puertito de Lobos is built in what is really a small paradise, where white sand and volcanic rock combine to form spectacular natural pools with crystal-clear, calm waters that are perfect for snorkelling or enjoying a family day out. After a dip there is nothing better than going for something to eat in the only restaurant in the village, with its amazing views over the small bay.

Sustainability
Sostenibilidad
  • Never leave waste of any type lying around, including cigarette butts. Leftover food leads to a proliferation of rats and wild cats, which pose a serious threat to the fauna.
  • Do not throw any waste or other objects into the sea.
  • Respect the animals. Do not bother them or feed them. If you see an injured specimen, you can call the emergency number: 112. Do not pick flowers or plants.
  • Do not pick up or take away stones or any other item from the natural environment. And do not move them to pile them up into sadly famous 'towers'.
  • Respect and look after the area's historic and cultural heritage, along with the different items of public furniture (information panels, railings, seats, lighting, etc.).
