The Romería de la Virgen de La Peña is a deeply rooted festive and religious celebration in Fuerteventura, held in the town of Vega de Río Palmas in the municipality of Betancuria. This event brings together numerous devotees who arrive from different parts of the island, some on foot or on the backs of donkeys and camels, to pay homage to the Virgin. The festivity combines religious acts such as masses, processions, and offerings with recreational activities, including dances, cart parades, musical performances, and food tastings. This romería, declared a Cultural Heritage Site in 2007, is a cultural symbol of Fuerteventura and a manifestation of the devotion and identity of its people.
